Y2 Unit 1.2: Open Curriculum Development Project Goals for Year 2
In Unit 0, we explained the Open Curriculum Development Project goal: to share openly licensed textbooks and course packs (also known as ancillary course materials) that other Oregon instructors will want to adopt and adapt for their courses. During Year 2, we take important steps towards that goal by piloting our textbook manuscripts with students, seeking feedback, and developing course materials. By the end of this year:
- Chapter drafts will be ready for handoff to Revising Authors and Early Adoption Instructors.
- Course designs will be piloted, revised, and ready to be copied over to Course Pack sites.
Please keep these goals in mind as you read about the concepts underlying the Open Curriculum Development Project in this unit.
Keep Going!
Please make room in your schedule to work on this project throughout Year 2. If you keep making progress, you will stay on track.
We recognize that the people involved in this project are juggling multiple timelines, especially if you are both an author and a pilot instructor. Institutional timelines are also layered in so that we can stay aligned with requirements for instructors teaching each term. Your Project Manager and Instructional Designer will work closely with you to set realistic benchmarks and check-in points so we can support a timeline that works for you.
