Y1 Unit 4.1: Learning Objectives and Overview
Learning Objectives
- Determine the major topics and structure for your outline.
- Name required chapter elements and how they fit into the outline.
- Examine how chapter-level learning objectives in your outline support your course-level outcomes.
Overview
In Unit 3, we used the concept of alignment to scope your textbook. You’ve drafted your book description, identified course level outcomes, and brainstormed high-level topics to cover. In this unit, you’ll add detail to each topic in your outline.
This unit focuses on structure and design, and how choices in these areas impact the student’s experience with the text. You’ll organize your content into a consistent chapter structure so that your students access and remember the content in your book. You’ll see an example chapter and make equity-based design choices to help students achieve your learning outcomes.
In the next unit, we’ll ensure that your project is on track with shared equity goals so that you can prepare for an outside audience of peer reviewers to provide feedback on your work so far.
