Y1 Unit 7.1: Learning Objectives and Overview
Learning Objectives:

- Apply strategies for specificity, prevision, accountability and humanity in your writing.
- Identify opportunities to increase student understanding by using plain language.
Overview
In the previous unit we wrapped up our Textbook Accelerator and introduced strategies for effective chapter drafting. Your About This Book document is complete and out for peer review. Congratulations on reaching the first milestone in this project!
Now we’re changing gears and moving into units that are monthly (or longer). Unit 7 uses the pause while you wait for reviewer feedback to make significant progress on your chapter draft. This month is all for writing!
The goal of Unit 7 is to write more than half of your chapter draft. That’s because in Unit 8, you’ll juggle {Course #} About This Book revision and completing your first chapter draft with openers, closers, spotlights, and figures. Stick to your timeline so that you’re ready to submit an entire chapter draft for developmental edit at the end of Unit 8.
Task List with Time Estimates
The table below provides an overview of the tasks for this unit, along with how long we expect each task to take.

| Estimated total for all tasks over 4 weeks | 14-16 hours |
