Y1 Unit 8.1: Learning Objectives and Overview

Learning Objectives

  1. Interpret peer review feedback on your {Course #} About This Book document.
  2. Analyze effective use of chapter elements.
  3. Explain project standards for accessible media, alt text, figure captions, and descriptive links.

Overview

In Unit 7, you made significant progress on your first chapter draft. Now, in Unit 8, you’re juggling a lot of steps at the same time: revising your About This Book document with input from external reviewers, completing your first chapter draft, and looking ahead to completing your manuscript. It’s counterintuitive, but think of these as simultaneous processes rather than sequential steps.

This unit has all the information you need to finish your chapter draft with openers, closers, spotlights, and figures.

After this unit, we’ll have a 3-month unit where teams will work on revising your first chapters and drafting the rest of the chapters in your book. Our pace is ambitious, so we’ll keep checking in about the project timeline to stay on track. Please let the Project Manager know if you need help so that we can work together to make your project successful.
