The seal was introduced on May 7, 1980, and is described in law as: Standing upon a mound, an oak tree with black trunk and limbs and green foliage in front of a gold rising sun, issuing gold rays on a light blue disc, enclosed by a dark blue border with gold edges bearing the inscription "DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION" above a star at either side of the words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" in smaller letters in the base; letters and stars in white.
Seal of the US DOE

This open-access Interactive A&P pressbook was made possible through generous grant funding by the US Department of Education (DOE) Grant # STM461-OIT/EPO-001, administered by the Oregon Tech Department of Educational Programs and Outreach (OT EPO) and the Willamette Education School District (WESD).

Open Oregon Educational Resources supported the subscription for this Pressbook.. Open Oregon promotes textbook affordability for community college and university students by supporting the adoption of open, low-cost, and high-quality materials.  Special Thanks to Amy Hofer for being the administrator of this book.
