4.5 Conclusion
Working with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences can be one of the most rewarding and challenging parts of human service work. The profession has come a long way in understanding the importance of recognizing and respecting difference, but there is still a lot of work yet to be done. Your internship gives you the chance to explore your own views and biases, and begin to develop the skills to work effectively across difference. These skills will be integral as you continue in your profession.
