Note From the Translation Coordinator

This translation was possible thanks to the diligent work of undergraduate students of Spanish at Western Oregon University. We strived for clarity and semantic fidelity and made no attempt at preserving the author’s elegant style. With her blessing, we made all sentences in our translation as concise and clear as we could. All names and titles were left in their original language, with translations provided in footnotes. The few words left in the original Spanish are also translated in footnotes. Gratitude and recognition goes to all the translators and editors involved in this book.
