Exercise 8.1 Still life

You will be drawing the image below as a warm up, prior to drawing your elaborate still life. This is a good example of how to set up your objects in an interesting manner. Be aware of the angles and how perspective affects them, especially in the open notebook. Note how lighting adds to the look of the composition.

Materials needed:

  • Pencils – 4H, HB
  • Erasers – white and gray

 

Time to complete: 30 minutes

Instructions:

Draw the image you see below in one of the four areas of your drawing pad.

Start with a light line drawing of all the main objects and darken them after everything looks correct.

Add shading and as much detail as you wish, however, they are not required.
